B&G is the brand of choice for instrument systems and tactical navigation software for the Volvo Ocean Race. 100% of the Volvo Ocean Race boats are installed with B&G equipment.
“We relied on the accuracy of the B&G instruments and found it vital to be able to steer to the Apparent Wind Angle at night in severe conditions. When every point counts, compromise is not an option and as a skipper I wouldn’t choose any other system.” Mike Sanderson, Skipper ABN AMRO ONE - Winner VOR 2005/06
Over a year and a half before the start of this Volvo Ocean Race, B&G Technical Support began specifying performance instrument systems for the initial team entries. Supporting each team’s dedicated electronics specialists, the B&G team ensured that the correct systems were chosen and installed. A grand prix performance WTP2 system was chosen for every new boat built for this VOR and tuned to each team’s specific requirements.
Deckman Tactical Navigation Software is the software of choice for the VOR and race reporter Mark Chisnell is using Deckman to predict the fleets future positions. Visit the VOR Race Data Centre to follow the fleet with Deckman routing.
