New technology increases wind sensor accuracy and reliability
B&G has introduced new technology to its H3000 Masthead Unit (213 MHU) that will improve wind data accuracy whilst at the same time increasing reliability. B&G instruments and sensors are already renowned for providing precise, dependable wind data but the new H3000 Masthead Unit raises the bar in terms of raw data quality.
Utilising a sophisticated new architecture, the new Masthead Unit offers even greater repeatability and accuracy compared with its predecessor, and is less prone to ‘drift’, which makes readings much more stable. This ensures that the B&G H3000 instrument system has the highest quality raw data to work with, which in turn provides navigators with even better numbers that will help to improve performance.
The new Masthead Unit has been designed to mitigate the effects of VHF antennas, which can distort wind readings if placed too close to the sensor. Operational reliability is improved through the use of advanced electronic manufacture techniques that make the unit less susceptible to the effects of static discharge, which has been known to damage Masthead Units in the past.
“The H3000 instrument system provides extremely precise and reliable data, but it relies on the quality of the sensors that provide the initial wind data. So in order to provide even better accuracy we addressed some issues at the source of the data, the wind sensor itself,” says Richard Acland, Managing Director, B&G. “In doing this and through the introduction of our new Masthead Unit we are ensuring that H3000 instruments have the best raw data to work with, which in turn ensures even more accurate information for navigators.”
All new H3000 systems will utilize the new Masthead Unit. To find out more about the H3000 system and B&G wind sensors visit the Navico stand (D46) at Genoa Boat Show 2007.
