Simrad® Yachting, a leader in the design and manufacture of world-class marine navigation, auto steering, communications and fishfinding systems, has introduced a host of innovative new software enhancements for its NSE navigation systems.

The new Simrad NSE 2.0 software puts the user in complete control of a range of onboard, integrated functions including full Simrad Autopilot control, integration of the recently launched StructureScan™ Sonar Imaging and digital switching, control and monitoring of nearly any system on your boat.

Simrad Yachting Product Line Director, Mike Fargo said: “With this new technology it is now possible to control a whole host of important functions through a single user friendly interface. Bringing everything together in one place gives the user an integrated solution allowing them to control the boat from a single screen.”

Taking control of your Simrad autopilot functions has never been so easy. Simrad NSE 2.0 software combines the world’s best performing autopilot system with brilliant, best in class Simrad NSE displays. Combine charting, autopilot and vessel pages for unprecedented vessel control and add additional screens where needed. The new software also integrates the Simrad NSE unit with the impressive new StructureScan™ Sonar Imaging technology, which delivers life-like imaging of underwater structures. StructureScan™ Sonar Imaging incorporates SideScan & DownScan Imaging™ . The addition of exclusive DownScan™ Overlay™ over traditional Broadband Sounder™ echosounder display adds a new dimension clearly separating fish from other targets and structures.

Using innovative Czone digital switching technology, it is now possible to control and monitor almost any system on the boat from the NSE display unit. Lights, bilge pumps and tank levels are among the functions that can be operated, monitored and adjusted at the touch of a button.

The ability to monitor and adjust fuel and power settings from the NSE unit allows users to moderate energy consumption and reduces the overall running costs.

Mike Fargo continues: “Simrad NSE units already provide boaters with best in class radar, chart plotter and echo sounder technology. Our new software enhancements have made this impressive system even better.

“Once again, Simrad Yachting has pushed the boundaries of marine electronics to deliver unparalleled functionality, flexibility and efficiency for both professional and recreational boaters.”

The Simrad NSE series is compatible with some of the most powerful innovations in marine technology, including the award winning Simrad BR24 Broadband Radar™, the HD Digital Radar, the BSM-1 Broadband Sounder Module and the GS15 High Speed 5Hz GPS antenna.

Simrad HD Digital Radars and the Simrad Broadband Radar now support True Motion Radar Display, so moving vessels can be instantly distinguished from fixed objects and land masses, which can be highly reassuring in poor weather conditions. In addition, Broadband Radar near-range performance and usability has been optimised with the addition of High-Speed Antenna Rotation. With increased target update rates early detection and tracking of high-speed radar targets is a given.

Simrad Yachting has also added the capacity to show MARPA targets on the chart screen and added floating VRM’s and EBL’s for more effective radar plotting.

With plans to be available April 2010 these impressive new NSE 2.0 software enhancements can be downloaded from www.simrad-yachting.com or by contacting your authorised Simrad dealer.
