Incorporating a suite of feature and performance enhancements such as MARPA and the latest C-MAP Pro database support, the new software update increases the functionality of the award-winning 8000i premium navigation solution and provides more capabilities for the discriminating boat owner. A complete solution for navigation and entertainment, the Northstar touch screen 8000i multifunction device seamlessly combines fully integrated chartplotter, radar, depth sounder, instrument repeater and a fuel/engine management system functions with video and network camera monitoring, DVD/CD player and music jukebox features.
Exciting new 8000i Version 2 software features include:
• Added Radar MARPA (mini-ARPA): the 8000i now offers 10-target, MARPA-enabled tracking when combined with Northstar HD Digital Radars
• Updated Language Support: allows the 8000i to be used in 8 previously unavailable languages (Dutch, Danish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Spanish and Swedish)
• Enhanced Video Connectivity: the 8000i system now supports AXIS network video servers for 4x video inputs and ethernet video sharing across the network
• Added Northstar Loran Coordinates: 8000i waypoints and position can now use proven “Phantom” loran algorithms in addition to standard latitude and longitude
• Improved Track Management: the 8000i has improved track storage and management allowing boaters to easily record and review recent trips
• Enhanced Chart Support: the 8000i now supports the latest C-Map Max PRO database with enhanced data and improved visual bathymetric views
• Improved Charting Performance: in areas of high chart detail with significant amounts of data, the 8000i now responds instantly with lightning fast redraw
The Northstar 8000i with new Version 2 software offers a future-proof, scalable, robust and customizable solution. Built from the ground up as a waterproof, marinized system, the dynamic device can operate as a standalone 12-inch display and GPS system, or be a self-substantiating network of 12-inch, 15-inch and 3rd party monitors, complete with radar, sounder and entertainment options. The 8000i provides easy access to pre-programmed favorite screens; the ability to program a 2-way split with video and radar, or 4-way split with engine instruments, radar, sounder and aft deck camera; as well as a myriad of desirable combinations. The Northstar 8000i is protected by a 2-year limited parts and labor warranty.

For a limited time, Northstar is also offering a price reduction promotion on the $6,995.00 12-inch 8000i display. A $1,200.00 dollar discount is being offered on purchases made between July 23 and September 30, 2008.
