Navman marine offers a portfolio of marine electronics products and GPS solutions, designed and manufactured in New Zealand, and has established a leading market position in Australasia as well as a strong presence in Europe over the last 15 years.
The company was started in 1986 by Peter Maire as Talon Technology. Working in his Auckland (New Zealand) garage, Peter became a pioneer in bespoke electronic products for the Marine market. That garage-based enterprise grew, adding chart plotters and fish-finders to a popular range of boating instruments, such as wind and depth gauges and at the start of the 1990s, the name Navman was adopted.
Accompanying the name change was the realisation that GPS would become a core part of the Navman business, which helped the brand to expand on its foundation in marine electronics.
